Does size matter?
Liposomes are made up of a double layer of phospholipids, these phospholipids are arranged in a hollow ball structure. The dietary ingredients are encapsulated within the liposomes cavities.
Scientific research has shown that the liposome size determines the stability of the liposome in the stomach, it also determines the amount of time the liposomes stay within the small intestine. Both of these factors have an influence on bioavailability.
The gastric and intestinal absorption of liposomes are highest at a size less than 500 nm.
